Routes in kayak in Torremolinos in the nature spot of the mouth of the river Guadalhorce:

See the world from the sea, on board a canoe, an unforgettable experience. We are at the mouth of the river Guadalhorce: a paradise for birds in Andalusia.

You can discover up to 80 species in one day!
Sport, leisure, adventure and the best observatory for birds is an activity appropriate for everybody, from children to adults. Ideal for the whole family!

A kayak is a type of canoe that is ideal for the getting close to the sea, its secrets and its sunsets as you are seated, watching the course of the canoe with the oar in your hands. It is a small narrow long boat that is a very good means of maritime transportation that has a bow and stern.

The Route:
“El Bajoncillo”, an popular urban beach with an unmistakeable family ambience and is one of the beaches that we will arrive at in our ‘adventure’ vehicle. With its 1000m of longtitude, its dark sand, its famous beach bars and the swell of the sea means El Bajoncillo needs no introduction.

What a sensation to contemplate how the beaches pass us by, the people in the distance, their routines, their daily life of sunbeds and beach bars from the vantage point of our kayak.

“Playamar/El retiro” and “Los Alamos/El Cañuelo” are two more examples of coastal life, a prelude to the wild environment of the mouth of the mythical Guadalhorce. And finally, face to face with the first flights of birdlife.

One example is the” stoneinverter”, called this because we can see it singing at the shore looking for crustaceans to feed on. It comes from breeding in the Arctic Circle, in Siberia and Greenland. Its reddish back, its white front, black collar and red feet make it an unmistakeable “Limicola falcinellus”.
Looking up at the sky from our kayak we see “charran patinegro” that appears in great flocks. Similar in size to the mire growl their behaviour is more aggressive and their penetrating chirp warns us of their masses flying overhead.

Other birds of interest in this area are: “el zampullin chico”, “el avetorillo”, “los chorlitejos chico and “patinegro”. In the middleguadalhorce_05 of summer you can even see the splendid return of the africans.
